Shelby joined RPBCWD in February 2026. She helps implement the district-wide monitoring program, and focuses on the collection, analysis, and reporting of data on streams including water quality, flow levels, streambank erosion evaluations and bioassessments within the district. She began her career as an AmeriCorps volunteer with the Montana Conservation Corps and went on to earn a B.S. in Environmental Science with a hydroscience focus from the University of Iowa. Prior to joining RPBCWD, she worked with the Great Basin Institute, the USGS Iowa Water Science Center, and the USGS Upper Midwest Water Science Center.

 Shelby's favorite part of her job is connecting with surrounding environment every day. "Field work allows me to get a glimpse into the ecosystems around us, and that feels very special to me," she says. In her free time, Shelby loves hiking and just walking outside in general. She loves trying new things and learning new skills, the current hyperfixation being pottery.
