Low Salt, No Salt Minnesota Train-the-Trainer Event

September 30, 2025, 1:00-2:30 pm

Hennepin County Ridgedale Service Center, 12601 Ridgedale Dr, Minnetonka

Registration is limited to 30 people.

Background

The Low Salt, No Salt Minnesota campaign is a resource for addressing one of our state’s toughest water quality challenges: chloride pollution. The campaign builds community capacity to maintain winter safety while reducing chloride-based deicer use and its associated damages through relationships with private property owners and managers.

The statewide campaign is intended to be adapted and delivered by local government units, such as cities and watershed organizations. The campaign framework equips water resources practitioners with the knowledge and tools to coach private property managers—such as businesses, HOAs, and institutions—on how to reduce salt use while maintaining safety.

Who is this training for?

This training is for practitioners who are seeking practical tools and advice for establishing and implementing the program at their organization.

What to expect

The train-the trainer event will provide background on the research-backed campaign, outline the framework, and introduce available tools to help practitioners bring the Low Salt, No Salt Minnesota campaign to their communities. The goal: to empower practitioners to engage with private property managers to help them discover the actions they are ready to take.
